Sizes: 35.5" (38" - 42" - 44" - 48" - 52" - 56" - 60") finished garment chest measurement
I am so pleased with the fit and styling of this hand knit A-line tunic. The knitted insert adds just enough visual interest to make it special.
Tunic body is knit in the round up to the armholes, gently flaring out towards the bottom edge which is finished with eyelet edging. Three-quarter length sleeves are knitted flat in order to accommodate changes to width and shaping from the eyelet-edged bottom edge up to the armholes. Set-in sleeves. Eyelet edging on neckline has single button closure at back neck.
The best fitting garments are those which fit at the shoulders. Detailed instructions include finished (washed and dried) measurements throughout to insure individualized fit. This hand knit tunic is also an excellent candidate for including bust darts for a more custom tailored fit. Contouring with short rows and/or vertical bust darts can create the ultimate in fitted knit apparel. Required Yardage: 1250 [1325, 1500, 1675, 1975, 2075, 2250, 2465] yds
Knitted gauge in Stockinette Stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) is 6 stitches and 9 rows per inch on Size 4 US needles. This is a stable gauge, and if cotton or rayon is used, it will not stretch out of shape (or grow, as can happen with an unstable, loose gauge), but any yarn which matches gauge would work well.
