Sizes: 35" (38" - 41" - 44" - 48" - 53" - 57" - 61") finished garment chest measurement
This flirty little hand knit peplum cardigan has gotten a LOT of wear since I finished it this winter. It is the perfect weight for both cold and barely-cool weather, and the lightweight fabric maintains a lovely drape. Its subtle peplum 'skirt' and overall tailoring add a slightly dressy flair, whether with jeans or over a skirt or dress at church. There is textural patterning near the bottom edges of the body and sleeves, as well as along the bottoning front faced edges. It is difficult to see this textural design in the photo, so a close-up is included, at right

The tailoring of this hand knit peplum cardigan includes perfect shoulder width. More than anything else, shoulder width is the key to a well-fitted garment. "Shoulder width" refers to the measurement between the little bumps on top of both shoulders, BEFORE the ball joints - not between the far ends of the ball joints. Compare the shoulder fit of this knitted jacket with the fit of the shoulder width on my light blue and striped knit lapel-collared jackets (at https://www.conniehester.com/knit-short-jacket-pattern.htm) where I mistakenly knit them to fit my outer shoulder measurement.
The double-knit collar on this peplum sweater provides its own inherent support. It does not flop about or splay flat against the shoulders. It stands on its own as it should. Instructions are provided for making the double-knitting very easy. It has an immaculate finish along both inside and outside neck edge.
Buttonholes are neatly constructed on the Right Front and on the Right Front Facing. Crisp turn rows are created for all hems and facings. Both Fronts and the Back are knitted together in one piece up to the Armholes, with mitered edges included in the facings. Since it is impossible to design for every possible body shape and design option, measurements are included throughout the instructions to allow adjustments to be made for the perfect personal fit, as desired.

Knit gauge in Stockinette Stitch is 29 stitches and 44 rows per 4 inches on Size 3 US needles.
Required Yardage: 1445 [1598, 1844, 2059, 2291, 2589, 2858, 3157] yds any fingering/sock weight yarn which produces gauge. (Double that amount if you decide to use double stranded 8/2 Cott-Lin, as I did, or the like. The Cott-Lin single strands were 26-28 wpi.)
