I have received numerous inquiries about illustrations and videos of this invisible knit neckline stitches pick-up. I do not know of any online, so I am posting one of my own illustrations. This was taken from my Knit Hemmed Jacket Pattern which includes a double-knit (2 layers) collar and front facings. This technique would also work with single-layer neckline treatments.
Cast-on by laying the circular needle against the neckline and mimicking making stitches with a needle and thread in continuous loops (like a wire spiral book binding). I use 2 tails of yarn from 2 balls (for double-knitting) for the "thread" which is 3-4 times the length of the neckline (but I actually use a crochet hook to pull both yarns all the way through rather than a needle). I move from right to left as I face the inside of the jacket so that I will begin knitting the right side of the collar from the right end of the needle when the stitches have all been cast on.
